The weekend is here and if you want to get out and about think of these events.

This weekend think about these options:

Sea Turtle Day Saturday, March 3 at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton.

Sea Turtle Day At Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

You may be familiar with the saying, “Every dog has his day,” but at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, it’s Sea Turtle Day! Mark your calendar for the seventh annual Sea Turtle Day Saturday, March 3.

The fun begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. This is a free event (sorry, no dogs allowed)!

Here is what you can see and do at Sea Turtle Day: Stroll the grounds. Explore the boardwalks. Visit environmentally friendly exhibitors. Attend a performance by a local children’s theater. Take a guided walk through the hammock.

There will be plenty of fun for all ages, from arts and crafts to educational talks. Keep your eyes open for Luna, their new Green Sea Turtle mascot (have your camera ready)!

There will be several food and drink vendors on hand. Want to go green? Bring your own water bottle and you can fill it for free at their water station.

Parking Hop on the free shuttle bus at Spanish River Park on Ocean Blvd, 1.5 miles north of Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (there will be no parking at Gumbo Limbo). Enter through the south gates, parking is free. This event is open to all ages.

The suggested entrance donation is $5 per person. Note that children and teens must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Grant Seafood Festival March 3rd & 4th, 2012 9am – 7pm Saturday & 9am – 5pm Sunday

Free admission, free parking, over 100 crafters exhibiting, live continuous entertainment, along with a scrumptious menu of succulent seafood makes this a weekend no one wants to miss.

What sets this seafood festival apart from others is that it runs through a 100% volunteer effort! All preparation , whether it be on the grounds or with the purchasing, cooking or serving of the various menu items is accomplished by volunteers of the community. We do not have any food vendors on site.

All booths are run with volunteers: many booths are made up of family members, often times having several generations working along side one another.

Directions From the South on I-95 1. Take exit #156 (FELLSMERE/SEBASTIAN) onto FELLSMERE RD and go 4.0 miles 2. Bear LEFT on ROSELAND RD(CR-505) and go 4.7 miles 3. Turn LEFT on US-1 and go 6.6 miles 4. Now just follow the signs to the festival!
