The City of Port St. Lucie invites the community and visitors alike to Freedomfest 2011, scheduled for Monday, July 4, beginning at 2 p.m., at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.

Spectators in Village Square will be delighted with this all-day event, which will include a wide variety of music, food and activities for all ages.

Live entertainment will be performed by Fresh Catch, Black Hatchet and local children’s groups. Village Square will be hopping with bounce houses, arts and crafts vendors, free face painting, caricature drawings, a balloon artist and more.

No Fourth of July celebration is complete without fireworks, and this year will be no exception. At 9 p.m., as long as the weather cooperates, spectators will be dazzled by the area’s largest fireworks display lighting up the night sky, followed by a dance contest in Village Square.

A family-friendly celebration in Port St. Lucie for more than 20 years, Freedomfest will consist of a full day of food, fun and good old-fashioned Independence Day spirit for everyone. Best of all, admission and parking are free.

Looks like fun but hope for a better turn out than the last few events.
