Port St. Lucie, FL – Get ready for Tradition Square to become Port St Lucie’s Little Italy. The Taste of Little Italy presented by Ft Pierce Nissan returns on January 27th, 28th and 29th, 2012. This three – day cultural celebration culminates into a large Italian street festival showcasing favorite Italian food, music, art and much more!
In its fifth year many of the Taste favorites are back along with some new additions. The Taste will include the Banfi Wine seminars, Street Painting, Festival Rides, Games, Villa Marzia Limon Cello Bar and the Budweiser Piazza.
Vendors will be lined up around the square, serving up some of your favorite dishes just like Grandma used to make. Festival goers can stroll through the streets and enjoy vendors showcasing jewelry, art, clothing, Italian novelties and cookware. The Taste will also include the Little Smiles Kids, a Bocce Ball Court and much more.
One can’t help but feel the excitement that surrounds the Taste of Little Italy when discussing the festival with Jerry Somma, the event producer,” It’s not about a street in New York, Chicago, Boston or other cities, it’s about what the neighborhood represents, the place where our ancestors first migrated, stayed together, worked, shopped, raised their children and began their journey to obtain the American Dream,” Somma explained. ‘Italian culture represents and reflects the foundation of our Grandparents and Parents as they brought these values with them to this country with their love of family, a love for celebrating life and a work ethic to achieve their dreams”, he concluded.
The Taste of Little Italy is a place where the entire family can enjoy Italy without ever leaving their neighborhood. So, mark your calendars and come out to hear all of the great music, smell the Italian aromas, taste the authentic food, and see why the Taste of Little Italy is the place to be January 27-29, 2012.

We are now only 12 days away from the West Palm Beach CureSearch Walk!!!  The walk teams are really beginning to pick up momentum and we thank you for your support!

I am excited to share our walk day schedule with you all.  Below you will find details on the location, parking, walk course, activities and more.  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Our goal for this year’s walk is to raise addional funds and awareness than last year.  If we all pull together the next two weeks, we can accomplish this task.  We are raising these vital funds to support the clinical trials and research being done to cure childhood cancer.  If each team that is registered raised another $1,800 we will reach our goal.  This seems like a large task, but as you recruit walkers to your team, encourage them to be your mini army to help you.  As a group effort, we can achieve this goal.  Your best tool is online fundraising.  Send out your personal fundraising page link today and remind people that the walk is just 12 days away and ask them to send the email out to their friends and families.  Help spread the word!

These are the Reason’s Why We Walk – Team Spotlight

**On walk day, we want every child and team to be in the spotlight.  We will be printing a poster for each team and need a picture of your child and/or family photo you are walking in honor or memory of. Please email me a photo by Wednesday, Feb. 1, so we can include your team on the walk route.  If you already sent in a photo, thank you.  If we do not have a photo for everyone, we will recognize each team by name on a poster on the walk route.

Registration tables will be near the back of the green space.  The walk route will be along the water this year on the sidewalks and will not be on the streets.
9:00 am – Day of Registration/Check-In, money turn in, and pre-walk activities begin We will have a “Day of Walk” registration table set-up at registration for anyone not registered online.  Children 15 years old or younger by walk day do not have to pay the $10 registration fee.  Any additional donations can be turned in on walk day at registration.  Envelopes will be available for you to complete and turn in.  Donations turned in during registration will be added to team and individual fundraising totals one week post event.  If you have registered online, you do not have to register the day of the walk, simply turn in additional donations if you have some with you. Pre-Walk Activities/Entertainment    DJ/Music    Facepainter    Juggler Refreshments    Rita’s Italian Ice – donation    Water    Hot Dogs (after the walk) T-Shirts & Bandanas If you are a registered walker and raise $100 or more you will receive a CureSearch Walk day t-shirt.  Simply check-in at registration to receive a ticket to redeem your shirt.  Every walker will receive a green bandana on walk day.  Please remember to visit the bandana table near registration to choose your color to represent the reason why you are walking.
All team captains and walkers are welcome to add the person’s name they are walking for to the “These Are the Reasons We Walk Banner”

10:00 am Opening Ceremony Bereavement Ceremony will include a moment of silence and a 10 white balloon release (max per state law) and a song to remember the lives lost to pediatric cancer.

Survivor Ceremony for children who are currently in treatment or who have completed treatment as well as all childhood cancer survivors will be called to the stage and will be recognized and presented a 2012 medal.  All survivors are asked to stay on stage to take a picture with the “These Are the Reasons We Walk” banner.

10:30 am Walk Kick-Off The walk distance is approximately 2-3 miles down the inter-coastal waterway, on the walk path (new route plan).  Walkers can bring strollers, wagons, wheelchairs if needed.

Approximately 11:30 am – Closing Ceremony Upon returning from the walk – we welcome you to enjoy hot dogs and fixings provided by a very special family.  The top fundraising teams and walk fundraising totals will be announced.

Registering Online:
Each person registered for the walk (and on your team) will receive a personal fundraising page; it is an easy and effective tool to tell everyone you know! If you are already registered, don’t forget to edit your page, add a photo and share your story as we work toward finding new treatments and cures for childhood cancers through the important work of the over 178 hospitals across the country that are members of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). We would like to thank our local COG Hospital in West Palm Beach, St. Mary’s Hospital for your participation and support.

Digital Domain Park and Southern Eagle Distributing are proud to announce the Fourth Annual St. Lucie County Winter Beer Festival. The Winter Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm in the parking lot in front of Digital Domain Park in St. Lucie West.
For the second year in a row and three of the four years, the Winter Beer Festival has teamed up with the American Legion Post 318 as the official non-profit organization. A portion of the proceeds from the Beer Festival will benefit the American Legion Post 318. For years, the American Legion Post 318 has been helping veterans in need, donating to VA hospitals, sponsoring youth programs in the community and supporting service members returning home from active duty.
This year’s Winter Beer Festival will feature unlimited beer samples of over 100 different types of domestic, import and craft beers, live music, food and table set-ups from art/craft vendors and local businesses. Enjoy live music from the Spaz Band and KISS ALIVE The Tribute. The first 1000 attendees will receive a souvenir sample cup.
Tickets to the Winter Beer Festival are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Tickets are limited. You must be at least 21 years old to attend. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 6th, 2012. Tickets can be purchased at the Digital Domain Park ticket office. The ticket office is open Monday thru Friday from 10am to 4pm. For more information, or to order tickets, call (772) 871-2115.

West Palm Beach CureSearch Walk News

It is Mid-January already!  Time is going by fast and we are now only 17 days away from the West Palm Beach CureSearch Walk!  Walk teams are beginning to pick up momentum and we thank you for your support!

Over the next few weeks, we can all pull together to reach benchmarks and goals.  Only research will cure Childhood Cancer and funds from the walk will support vital clinical trials.  We currently have 19 teams registered and encourage everyone from last year’s walks to return.  We also welcome new families, company teams and donors.  If each team averages $1,860 in new funds raised, we will raise $45,000 and match the funds raised from last year.  If every team recruits 10 people (walkers) and each person raises $100, we will be halfway!  Let’s all start recruiting today and together we can make a difference.  Post on Facebook, send out emails, talk to your friends and family! Get everyone excited to participate in the 2nd Annual West Palm Beach Walk!

Set a team goal…Recruit your team…Send emails for donations

If you have not set a team goal or personal goal, it is easy, remember to log in, go to MY HQ on the tool bar, and edit team page or edit personal page.  If you are having trouble editing or setting your team goal on your page, please email me and I can assist with this feature.  Donors are more inclined to donate if they see that as a team or individual, you have not reached your goal.
